Tonight England qualified for the 2018 World Cup and still with 1 game left to play. Northern Ireland have qualified for the playoffs, Scotland will qualify for the playoffs if they beat Slovenia on Sunday and it's probably going to be Wales and Ireland in Group D playing for the playoff place when they play each other on Monday. Still quite a lot of matches left to be played all over the world before the World Cup groups draw on 1st December.

England finished these World Cup qualifiers unbeaten in all 10 games. Scotland needed to win today but they got a draw and very unluckily have finished 3rd in the group on goal difference and miss out on the playoffs. Serbia are almost certain to win Group D so Monday night's Wales vs Ireland game is very important for both teams. The winner will qualify for the playoffs. A draw would be enough for Wales to get 2nd place. In South America Argentina are struggling to qualify and if they lose on Tuesday they won't qualify and won't be in the playoffs either.

On Monday Ireland beat Wales 1-0 and that puts them in the playoffs with Northern Ireland but they can't be drawn against each other. They could both be drawn against difficult teams Switzerland or Italy. That draw is being made on Tuesday. Argentina were close to missing out but they won with a Messi hatrick and qualified. They have relied on him too much. Iceland qualified as group winners and will be the smallest country ever to play in the World Cup. Netherlands failed to qualify and Arjen Robben announced his retirement from international football straight after. In a big surprise USA have failed to qualify. They just needed to beat Trinidad and Tobago last night but they lost 2-1 and other results went against them. Would be good to see Australia and New Zealand qualify they have got playoffs against Honduras and Peru next month.

Something new starting in 2018 called the UEFA Nations League. It's a bit complicated but this explains it http://www.uefa.com/community/news/newsid=2079553.html

The draw for the World Cup playoffs has been made. The first legs are played 9–11 November and the second legs are 12–14 November. England have got 2 friendlies next month against Germany and Brazil which will test how we do when we are playing against big teams.

Northern Ireland v Switzerland
Croatia v Greece
Denmark v Republic of Ireland
Sweden v Italy
