The Show

Kool & the gang – Too Hot (Chart countdown)

Matchbox – Buzz buzz a diddle it. (Not the one shown)

Heard this a couple of times and I don’t like it,probably would of gone down well in the 50s,sounds very dated by the 80s,but I imagine their were still a lot of 50s teddy boys buying it back then.

“Car broke down, tire blew out,Found a telephone booth”

Keith Michell – Captain Beaky (not the one shown)

Old man reading from a book to the backing sound of a brass band. Odd novelty song that would only get into the charts in England.

“That’s Timid Toad, Reckless Rat, Artful Owl and Batty Bat”

The Flying Lizards – ‘TV’

Another oddity, with wiki describing them as an “English experimental rock band”,with singer,Deborah Evans-Stickland,singing in a monosyllabic tone, and halfway through the song we have a man dressed like a cbeebies presenter in yellow dungarees saying the word, very, over and over again.

“Elton John’s style With an eagle profile”

Elvis Costello – I Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down

A nice upbeat number from Elvis, not one of my favourites of his,but still a good rocking tune.

“I’m the living result,Of a man who’s been hurt a little too much.”

Michael Jackson – Rock with you (danced to by legs and co)

Legs and co dancing in what looks like a tribute to the TV show come dancing to one of Jackos better songs, the off the wall album was him at the peak of his musical powers.

“And We’re Gonna Ride The Boogie,Share That Beat Of Love”

Dave Edmunds – Singing The Blues (not the one shown)

Dave sounding like Dennis Waterman doing a karoke version of singing the blues, pointles cover of an old classic,I would of expected better from the man who sang one of my favourite ever songs. (girls talk)

“Well, the moon and stars no longer shine,The dream is gone out from my mind”

Jon & Vangelis – I Hear You Now

Another showing for this video from Jon & vangelis

“For what was then, is what is now, anyhow”

The Shadows: – Riders in the Sky (not the one shown)

Strange that they were still popular in 1980.

Marti Webb – Take That Look Off Your Face

Marti sounding like she is singing on stage in some Andrew Llloyd Webber stage musical.

“There’s more than one car with stickers on”

Stiff Little Fingers – At the edge (not the one shown)

I don’t know the song but it was a relief when it came on,a bit of life,a bit of vitality after some of the dross that has gone before it.

“Always yap, yap, yapping and complaining at me”

Kenny Rogers – Coward Of The County

I am not a fan of country music but I quite like this song, this and Glen Campbells Rhinestone Cowboy.

“His mama named him Tommy,But folks just called him yellow”

Ramones – Baby I love you (end credits)
