Presented by Steve (in the afternoon) Wright
The show
Jefferson Starship – Jane (Chart rundown)
The Tourists – So Good To Be Back Home Again
Annie Lennox & Dave Stewart appear in a band called The Tourists, before they hit worldwide fame with The Eurythmics. This is more poppy than the Eurythmics, less moody. Annie has a ridiculously long hairpiece popping out of a ridiculously looking hat.
The Whispers – And The Beat Goes On (Danced to by Legs and co)
Great little dance number from the Whispers,I know the tune but I can’t say I have heard of the band before.
The Boomtown Rats – Someone’s Looking At You
Not really heard this song in years, but after hearing it a few times recently,I kind of like it. “Someone’s looking at ya oh oh oh oh”
The Nolans – I’m in the mood for Dancing
The BBC showing off with some fancy dan split screen graphics.
I am surprised I had heard this song before as neither the band name or the song title resonated with me. The song is ok,sounds a little like the Jam.
The Regents – 7teen (Not the one shown in this weeks show)
Back again on totp, this time the singer looking like he has just walked off the set of Red Dwarf.
Classic Queen,classic Freddie.
The Selector – Three Minute Hero
Pauline Black and the band pumping out a classic from the two tone era.
Not for me,but still going strong, appeared on this years Grammys
*Singer Bon Scott died 12 days after this performance on top of the pops.
The Buggles – Living in the Plastic Age
For some reason the keyboard player is wearing marigolds.
The Specials – Too much Too young
A second week at number one for The Specials.
Joe Jackson – It’s Different For Girls (Played out to the end credits)
If you want a more detailed review, check out this guy,he has more knowledge of the era and music in general than I do.
